The Adaklu District Assembly has unanimously endorsed President Mahama’s nominee, Jerry Yao Ameko, as the District Chief Executive (DCE). All 19 Assembly Members voted in favour of his confirmation during the exercise.

The confirmation took place in Adaklu-Waya on Wednesday, 2 April 2025.

In his address, Mr Ameko expressed his gratitude and pledged to work towards the district’s development. He highlighted Adaklu’s fertile land and river resources while acknowledging challenges such as unemployment, conflicts between farmers and herders, and inadequate infrastructure.

To address these issues, he plans to attract investments in large-scale farming and agro-processing, create jobs, and promote mechanization. Among his initiatives are the introduction of night markets as part of the 24-hour economy, the establishment of agro-processing centres, and improvements in road networks. Additionally, he aims to empower the youth with vocational skills.

As an educationist, Mr. Ameko seeks to enhance educational infrastructure, motivate teachers, and increase access to scholarships. He also plans to improve sanitation and support small enterprises, while also promoting peaceful coexistence through conflict resolution and designated grazing lands for both farmers and herders.

The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, commended the Assembly for their unity in this decision and expressed eagerness to work closely with Mr. Ameko to drive progress in Adaklu. The minister also expressed hope that Mr. Ameko’s leadership would lead to growth and prosperity for the district.
